Elma Electronic Unveils JetSys-5330: Rugged AI System for Edge Applications

Elma Electronic Inc., a leading provider of embedded computing solutions, has introduced the JetSys-5330, a rugged small-form-factor (SFF) embedded computing system designed for deep-learning and artificial intelligence (AI) applications at the edge of the battlefield. This cutting-edge AI platform, based on the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin system-on-module (SoM), offers a remarkable computing power of 275 tera operations per second and features expansion sites to cater to custom I/O and storage requirements.

The JetSys-5330 is specifically designed to enable advanced data processing in harsh environments. It serves a wide range of applications, including rugged and mission-critical scenarios that rely on wireless multi-access edge computing. Additionally, it proves to be an ideal choice for remote or outdoor environments. Industries such as robotics, autonomous mining, agriculture, and construction vehicles can also benefit from this rugged computing solution.

At the heart of the JetSys-5330 lies the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin, featuring a powerful 2048-core NVIDIA Ampere architecture graphics processing unit (GPU) equipped with 64 Tensor Cores. The system-on-module also includes a 12-core Arm Cortex-A78AE processor, deep learning and vision accelerators, a video encoder/decoder, high-speed I/O, and impressive memory bandwidth of 204 gigabytes per second, complemented by up to 64 gigabytes of DRAM.

Elma’s JetSys-5330 combines the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin module with the JetKit-3110 carrier card, which facilitates the necessary power and interfaces for the SoM. The carrier card also offers three mini-PCI Express slots and two M.2 slots to accommodate custom I/O or storage expansion.

In terms of ruggedness, the JetSys-5330 boasts an IP67 rating, ensuring its resilience in demanding environments. It has been qualified to meet several military standards, including MIL-STD-810G, MIL-HDBK-704F, MIL-STD-1275D, and others. This rugged embedded computing system can withstand challenging conditions while delivering exceptional performance.

Depending on the system configuration, the power consumption of the JetSys-5330 ranges from 53 to 130 Watts. The system weighs a maximum of 16 pounds, and an optional fan kit is available for additional cooling if required.

Elma Electronic’s JetSys-5330 marks a significant advancement in embedded computing solutions, bringing rugged AI capabilities to the edge of the battlefield and a variety of other challenging environments. With its exceptional computing power and robust design, the JetSys-5330 is set to revolutionize deep-learning and AI applications in numerous industries.
